There's nothing vanilla about this milkshake. Oh… except it's vanilla flavoured. Blend everything together, add maple syrup to taste, and you're done. Made with Overherd oat milk powder. Creamy, plant-based, and ready in under 2 minutes. Smear some peanut butter on the inside of your glass if you're feeling aesthetic.
Ingredients
1½ medium bananas, frozen 30g Overherd oat milk powder 250ml water 1 tbsp peanut butter ½ tsp vanilla extract Maple syrup to tasteMethod
1 Add all ingredients to a blender.
2 Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and add maple syrup if you'd like it sweeter.
3 Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Smear peanut butter on the inside of the glass first if you're feeling aesthetic.
Tips
Freeze your bananas in advance Peel and freeze ripe bananas in a zip-lock bag so they're ready to go. The riper the banana, the sweeter the milkshake. No extra sweetener needed!
Adjust the thickness For a thicker shake, reduce the water to 200ml or add an extra half banana. For a thinner consistency, increase water to 280ml.
Add sweetener last Blend first then taste before adding maple syrup if it needs to be sweeter. Ripe bananas are often sweet enough on their own. You may not need any.

Can you make a milkshake with oat milk powder? Yes and it gives a creamier result than carton oat milk! Adding Overherd powder directly to the blender means you get a richer base without diluting the shake with extra liquid.
Does this plant-based milkshake recipe contain dairy? No. All ingredients are fully plant-based. Overherd oat milk powder contains no dairy. If you're adding a sweetener, opt for maple syrup to keep it fully plant-based.
Can I make this milkshake without a blender? Not easily. The frozen banana needs to be blended to get a smooth, creamy texture. A high-powered blender gives the best result. A food processor will work at a push, though the texture may be slightly less smooth.

02 Frozen smoothie pops Pour into ice lolly moulds and freeze overnight. Pleasingly creamy, naturally sweet, and a heatwave must.
03 Layered with granola Pour over a layer of granola and frozen berries in a tall glass. Halfway between a milkshake and a smoothie bowl, fully delicious.
Variations
Jammie dodger Add a tablespoon of raspberry jam to the blend alongside the peanut butter. Chuck a few (frozen) Jammie Dodger biscuits in there too, if you're feeling naughty.
Ginger snap Add a tsp of ground of a small thumb of fresh ginger and a drizzle of golden syrup instead of maple syrup. It's warming and familiar, and tastes a bit like a ginger nut in a glass.
Sticky toffee Blend in two medjool dates instead of maple syrup and add a pinch of cinnamon. Tastes remarkably like the sticky toffee pudding that turns to lava after a minute in the microwave.
Extra protein Add a scoop of plant-based vanilla protein powder and reduce the water slightly. Thicker, more filling, and higher in protein.
